The Team Behind Fix My Speaker
Fix My Speaker is a free browser tool that clears water and dust from device speakers using sound. It runs entirely on your device, stores nothing, and costs nothing. It is built and maintained by a small team, funded by advertising, and deliberately does not publish the success-rate statistics the rest of this category invents.
Who We Are
Fix My Speaker is a free, browser-based tool designed to help you clean your device speaker using precision-calibrated sound wave technology and vibration patterns. We believe everyone should have access to simple, effective tools that solve real problems — without hidden fees, complicated apps, or unnecessary downloads.
Our team combines expertise in acoustic engineering, web development, and user experience design. We've spent years studying how sound frequencies interact with speaker hardware — and we've distilled that knowledge into a tool that anyone can use in 60 seconds.
We're independent, ad-supported, and committed to keeping Fix My Speaker free.
One thing we do differently: we tell you when a tool will not help. Acoustic cleaning clears blockages, and a blockage is not the only reason a speaker sounds wrong. Our AirPods page says plainly that a tone cannot reach a sealed driver chamber, and our Apple Watch page sends you to the feature already built into the watch. Sending someone to the right fix is worth more than keeping them on the page.
Our Story
It started with a dropped phone in a puddle. One of our founders watched helplessly as their smartphone speaker crackled and faded — and then spent two days buried in rice, hoping for a miracle that never came.
After discovering that Apple Watch uses a specific 165Hz tone to eject water from its speakers, the idea clicked: why isn't there a free, web-based tool that does the same thing for every device?
We noticed millions of people searching for "how to fix muffled speaker" and "water in phone speaker" every month. Most solutions meant a repair shop visit, an app download, or the rice method — which cannot reach water already sealed inside a device.
So we built Fix My Speaker — a tool that works instantly in any browser, on any device, for free. It runs in any browser, on any device, in under 60 seconds — try the speaker cleaner or measure your own handset with the resonance finder.
What We Offer
Everything you need to clean, maintain, and protect your device speakers — completely free.
Water Ejection
Targeted 165Hz sound waves physically push water droplets out of your speaker grille — the same acoustic principle used by Apple Watch's water lock feature.
Dust Removal
High-frequency vibrations between 8kHz–16kHz dislodge fine dust particles, lint, and debris stuck in speaker mesh openings without physical contact.
Deep Vibration Mode
Low-frequency vibration patterns shake loose stubborn particles and lodged water that standard sound waves alone cannot reach.
Universal Compatibility
Works on iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, JBL speakers, AirPods, earbuds, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches — any device with a speaker and a browser.
Maintenance Guides
Built-in guidance on recommended cleaning frequency, volume levels, and environment-specific precautions to keep your speakers healthy long-term.
Educational Resources
Our blog covers speaker science, cleaning techniques, myth-busting, and device-specific tips to help you make informed decisions.
Why We're Different
100% Free, Forever
No premium tiers, no paywalls, no "unlock full version" tricks. Fix My Speaker is completely free with unlimited uses on unlimited devices. We're ad-supported, not user-exploiting.
No App Download Required
Open fixmyspeaker.io in any browser and start cleaning in 3 seconds. Zero installation, zero storage space, zero app permissions. Your phone stays yours.
Privacy-First Design
Fix My Speaker runs entirely client-side. We don't collect your data, don't require accounts, and don't track your usage. Your speaker cleaning happens on your device — we never see it.
Science-Backed Technology
The tool plays 165 Hz for water and sweeps 8–16 kHz for dust — the frequencies used across this category. We have not measured which frequency performs best on which handset, and we will not claim otherwise until we run that test. The 165Hz water ejection tone, 8kHz–16kHz dust removal range, and deep vibration patterns are precision-engineered — not random noise.
Results in 60 Seconds
While the rice method takes 24–48 hours and professional repairs take 1–3 days, Fix My Speaker delivers results in a single 60-second session. Light water exposure usually clears in one session.
Our Technology
Last verified July 2026.
Fix My Speaker works on the same principle as the water ejection built into Apple Watch: a low-frequency tone moves the speaker diaphragm far enough to break the surface tension holding water in the grille and push it out.
Our tool cycles through four frequency ranges, each targeting a specific problem:
- 165Hz – 400Hz: Breaks water surface tension and pushes droplets out
- 80Hz – 200Hz: Deep vibration shakes loose stubborn debris
- 2kHz – 6kHz: Dislodges mid-size dust particles
- 8kHz – 16kHz: Removes fine dust from speaker mesh
All frequencies are within your speaker's normal operating range — the same frequencies produced during music playback and phone calls. There is zero risk of hardware damage.
About Fix My Speaker
Is Fix My Speaker really free?
Yes. There is no premium tier, no account and no installation. The site is funded by advertising. Every tool runs in your browser, so there is no server cost per use that would need recovering from you. There is no usage cap and no feature held back. Because the tools run in your browser rather than on our servers, each use costs nothing to provide.
Does Fix My Speaker collect my data?
The tools run entirely client-side and no audio is recorded, stored or transmitted. The Resonance Finder uses your microphone during a sweep and releases it immediately afterwards. The site itself carries analytics and advertising, which are covered in the privacy policy.
How well does acoustic cleaning actually work?
It reliably clears water and dust sitting in an open speaker grille, which covers most cases of sudden or gradual muffling. It cannot reach a torn diaphragm, a burnt voice coil or internal corrosion. If audio distorts at low volume as well as high, the problem is mechanical and needs a repair centre.
Who is behind Fix My Speaker?
A small independent team building browser-based audio tools. We are not affiliated with Apple, Samsung, Oppo or any handset manufacturer, and we do not sell repair services, so there is nothing we gain from overstating what the tool does. We do not sell repair services or hardware, so there is no commercial reason to overstate what an acoustic tool can achieve or to keep you on the page when a repair centre is the answer.
How is this different from other speaker cleaning sites?
Three things: every device page runs a purpose-built tool rather than one generic player relabelled, the Resonance Finder measures your own speaker so you can use its strongest frequency, and each page states plainly where the method stops working. Each device page also carries guidance specific to that manufacturer — the ColorOS volume cap on Oppo, the double-tap settings path on Samsung, the absence of a Vibration API on iOS.
